Lisa starts with a speech about "The negative aspects of Globalization".

Comment:
She tries to speak free, but unfortunately she talks too fast. Her language is generally easy to understand and if appropriate, she uses specific words, too. Futhermore Lisa stuctured the speech and the arguments in the way we learn in school.

Then followed a (too long) discussion about Lisa's grade and the worth of her work compaired with others work.

Comment:
more or less useless...

After that Dennis showed us his One-Act-Play "Globalization at the Backyard".

Comment:
It was quite short and some rehearsals would have been good, but I liked the open end and the stylistic devices.

After the break Esra hold her speach about "Americanization or Globalization".

Comment:
She talks slower and therefor more understandable than Lisa. She even talks very free and the speach contains a lot of information. Esra's pronounciation could be a little bit improved, because she didn't try to emphasize important words with linguistic devices.

In the end of the lesson Ruiqi holds a press conference. She is playing a representative of GE and talks about renewable energies.

Comment:
She was well informed and chose a good topic to talk about. Fothermore she tried to answer questions in an understandable language level.

11.12.2009:

Percy held a press conference about "The exploitation of the workers in the third world".

Comment:

I liked it very much, because the issue was quite critically and easy to talk about. He prepaired the informations for the discussion members very well.

David held a press conference about "Americans role in the Globalization".

Comment:

It was good to understand, because David was very detailed in his description.

18.12.2009:

Christopher holds a press conference on Global-Climate-Summit.

Members:
Christopher - Speaker of the Climate Conference (Kopenhagen)
Benjamin - Member of ATTAC

Comment:
The members of the press conference were well-informed. They could answer every question like experts, but sometimes they spoke to fast. The pronunciation could be inproved, as always. But after all I enjoyed it.

Natalie reads out the beginning of her story.

Comment:
Good start! Sometimes she red a bit to fast.

The first presentations

Today Chris A. and Matthias present thier projects.
Matthias project was a discussion panel about "The Iraq War". The members of the discussion were:

  • Barack Obama (Esra)
  • Mohammed Al Sahad - An Iraqi citizen (Christopher)
  • Sergeant Major Gerald Wolford - A soldier in Iraq (Percy)
  • George W. Bush (Andi)

Later Chris A. held a speech about "The decline of the West and the rise of he East". At first he said, that Asia was a great power in the Middle Ages, but lost this status to America. Now this effect is in the process of being reversed, because of Globalization and especially due to outsourcing. China produces cheaper and faster than any other country. Later he criticized the western economy and the politicians.

Chris A. put the main emphasis on the ecomonic aspects and talked very slow, but understandable. Furthermore he tries to verify his arguments with many statistics. His pronunciation and vocabularies were sometimes very "german".

The fourth day

Today the dates for the project presentation will be settled.
They will be between the 6th and the 18th December 2009.

Now almost all the students have found their project themes (also the "list of projects, leaders and their ideas" was refreshed again).

Here is a short interview about the project:

Reporter:
"Do you like or dislike this project?"

Anonymous:
"I like it! It's better than normal classes, because you can choose a project you like."

Reporter:
"But isn't that a waste of time?"

Anonymous:
"No, it's definitely not a waste of time, because I belief that you learn more in a project, than in regular lessons in school."
